Résumé
10 mars 2007. Paris. La brigade fluviale découvre un charnier dissimulé dans des containers au fond de la seine. La police scientifique met en évidence que la plupart des ossements appartiennent à des animaux dont les espèces sont en voie d’extinction. Une découverte d’autant plus étrange qu’un fémur gravé d’une étrange inscription, E7 : 14-25, va bientôt se révéler être d’origine humaine.
Spécialiste du profiling et de la traque criminelle travaillant pour interpole, Michelle Krachek va être la première à découvrir la signification de cette inscription. Il s’agit d’un passage du livre de l’Exode relatant les 10 plaies d’Égypte. Plus précisément, la première plaie : “Et les eaux du fleuve se changèrent en sang …”.
Persuadée que ce meurtre n’est que le début d’une longue série, Michelle se lance à la poursuite du tueur. Elle va bientôt découvrir que cette affaire lui est liée de manière intime…

There is a street in Paris where the police deposit objects they find at the bottom of the Seine after each dredging session. One day I walked past this place and there was a 1932 rusted Citroen, a metal box, unopened and a pile of a variety of odds and sods. Each one of these objects, even a shoe, has a reason why it was at the bottom of this famous river. RSP thought it might be interesting to encourage stories, short or long be they in French or English about these objects.
A Foiled Suicide - Bodies in the Seine?
Skipping back a century-and-a-half from then, right around 1719, we come to a legend about Cartouche, whose hangout here was the St Nicolas Tavern, a predecessor of todays Réserve de Quasimodo. Cartouche was the ring-leader of a pickpocket gang thats documented, since he was executed in 1721.
The legend: Cartouche and gang were working the popular and crowded Pont-Neuf bridge one day in 1719, when all of a sudden a well-dressed gentleman leapt up onto the Bridges parapet.
